Windeyer Studio

Windeyer Studio is a multi-generational practice in sustainable natural dyeing. Mother-daughter duo Joanna and Isabel Gertler use homemade natural dyes & their own homegrown flowers to upcycle secondhand silk garments and linens, giving vintage items a new lease on life. In addition to their upcycled wears, Windeyer offers a selection of new silk accessories, including scrunchies, scarves, masks, and pillowcases.

Part of the studio’s ethos of sustainability is realized by sharing their knowledge and experience with natural dyeing; workshops allow Joanna and Isabel to share the ability of plants and flowers to create colour and pattern on cloth.

Windeyer is a family name, belonging to Joanna’s paternal grandmother; it’s also the middle name she chose for herself as a young woman. It’s pronounced Windy-er!
